Dentures

Provide strength to compromised teeth

If you find that you are not suitable for dental implants or bridges then dentures may be the best option for you. They are usually very easy to construct and the process is minimally invasive and pain free.

Dentures are removable appliances that are tailor made to your mouth. They can be used to replace a few missing teeth all the way to a whole arch of missing teeth. The teeth on the dentures can be connected with acrylic (plastic) or with metal (cobalt chrome). The great thing about dentures are that they are a reversible treatment, so you always have the option if opting for bridges or implants in the future should you be suitable for them.

Restoring the form and function of your dentition is desirable for several reasons. Replacing missing teeth will ensure there is less force being distributed on your remaining natural teeth, increasing their lifespan. Increasing the number of teeth you have will also improve your ability to eat. This can significantly improve your quality of life. Dentures can also massively improve your smile, filling any unsightly spaces.

Which material should I opt for?

Acrylic. The benefits of acrylic are brilliant aesthetics and the ability to easily add to these dentures. The downsides are that these dentures can be quite thick and bulky which some patients fit hard to tolerate.

Cobalt Chrome. The benefits of chrome are generally greater than acrylic, these dentures are usually better retained as they can be clipped onto your teeth in the correct situations, they are also much thinner and more lightweight than acrylic. The downsides are that they can be difficult to add teeth to and are usually more expensive than acrylic.
